Money Makeover Contest

Enter The AARP Money Makeover Contest

Are you 50 years of age or older? Has the rocky economy dealt a blow to your finances? Are you suddenly having trouble saving for retirement, providing for a parent or a child, paying medical expenses, or simply making ends meet? Whatever your financial challenge, AARP would like to give you a hand—and you may help others as a result.

AARP The Magazine has teamed with the Garrett Planning Network to provide a free financial review and plan to six households in 2009. If you’re chosen, your story and the recommendations made by one of Garrett’s nearly 300 independent financial planners will appear on their website.

According to the official contest terms and conditions:

Each Participant will receive up to ten hours of free financial planning services (the “Services”) from a Certified Financial Planner in the Garrett Planning Network (the approximate retail value will be between $1,500 and $3,000). The planner assigned to work with each Participant will be determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Each Participant will work with the assigned planner to develop a financial plan tailored to the Participant’s individual financial goals. The assigned financial planner will follow up with the Participant at least one (1) time about six (6) months after providing the financial plan, regarding the implementation of his or her financial plan.

But, you’d better hurry. All online entries must be received by July 24, 2009. All postal mail entries must be postmarked by July 24, 2009.

And while you’re at it, make sure to check out all of the other free features and stories that can be found on the AARP Money website.

Just a little follow-up on one of the winners, Judy Gallagher. She’s someone we all can identify with. I hope she succeeds.
